NEW YORK - Think twice before you sign up for an online service using a
fake name or e-mail address. You could be committing a federal crime.

Burntfilm is against giving corporations the right to legislate directly, for this will completely alter our current system of government, wherein corporations have to pay off politicians, who then do the legislating for them. Think of the economic impact on our country! With politicians no longer recieving bribes, how will they pay for hookers?

Anyway, really, if such a law stood it would be a serious blow to our privacy, which has taken alot of hits over the last few years. I’m not sure, but I don’t think we collectively understand the internet as a society, maybe ten years from now we’ll have a better handle on it. I appreciate the zeal of the prosecutors going after this women, I’d argue that since the site does nothing to double check identities, it gives tacit approval to people using aliases. Sorta like someone not checkin ID’s at a bar, as in, it’s their fault…? Aside from that I’d argue that the terms of service themselves are unconstitutional, because the business would be discriminating against people who wanted to remain anonymous… maybe that’s stupid… anyway, I’m not a lawyer, but these things are worth thinking about. for a sec…

that’s why courts shouldn’t be legislating, we seperated the branches for a reason. This woman is absolutely nasty for what she did, harrassing some person. The prosecutors are at a loss for how to make her culpable, this isn’t the way. By the way, that site sucks, it’s full of fakes and spammers, and it’s their job to do something about that, not the governments, at least until I start recieving my Myspace tax rebate money.

fucked up, the whole situation is fucked, but it seems like a case of the Prosecutor sacrificing the reality of our rights to privacyy in order to get justice against one person.

Hey hough, this will open up all kinds of lawsuits against everyone ever, like if you put a statement on here saying we had to sign up and agree not to use aliases and we just clicked “yes” then posted, we’d be violating federal law by using fake names on your silly little blog. HA!
